Switzerland - Walks in the Alps
We also offer non-technical, non-glacial guided walks in a variety of regions in the Alps. These are very specific to the customer, depending upon the group we are taking. You may wish to sleep under the stars in a bivi bag, cooking your own meals over a light stove. Others may prefer to go from a lovely hotel in an alpine village and follow a hut to hut tour, sitting on the balcony in the evening with a glass of wine. Both experiences have much to offer in different ways and with Wolf Expeditions our staff can guide you through the regions with professional knowledge and care, being both safe and also informative regarding local culture, flora and fauna which greatly adds to the trip.

The Valais Alps in Switzerland are probably one of the most accessible and beautiful areas within the range. We have a variety of routes available either in the Val D’Anniviers or in the Zermatt valley. Some fantastic hotels and high mountain huts are possible in both and the magnificence of the surrounding peaks and glaciers impressively dominate the area Including Monta Rosa, the Matterhorn and the Zinalrothorn among many others.
The Bernese Oberland are one of the most imposing, historic and famous massifs in the whole of European mountain landscapes. We have a variety of walks based around the village of Grindelwald nestled beneath the mighty North face of the Eiger, where so much tragedy and mountaineering history has played itself out on those vertical slopes. Our treks weave through valleys and ridges with great views of both the Eiger and its illustrious neighbours Jungfrau and Monch and have options of campsites, hotels and mountain huts. Walks can be combined with a train ride up inside the North wall to the Jungfraujoch station perched on a snow ridge at 3454m overlooking the vast Aletschgletscher.
The Lepontine region is uniquely different to most alpine regions. Lower in Altitude, normally quite mild in weather and much more wooded and green than its snow bound counter parts, it becomes a lovely introduction to walking in the Alps. What it may lack in grandeur it more than compensates for in achievable peaks and charming wooden villages with a quite noticeable Italian Influence and a less intrusive infrastructure.

All the above treks are unique and for any groups we take it is first necessary to discuss what the group wants, the terrain and level of difficulty preferred, the budget and levels of fitness of the group and a variety of other factors. Please email at info@wolfexpeditions.com if you are interested in an alpine walk and we can put the perfect programme in place for group’s needs.
Apologies if there is any delay in responding to emails as sometimes all our staff can be away on expedition, your custom is really important and appreciated.
